Four places to start a worship collection for your kids

If you want to put together a collection of hymns and scripture songs for your child, here are four albums to explore on Apple Music.

These are starting points for a parent's own listening and selection. A recommendation is not a substitute for checking the songs against what you want your family to hear.

Getty Kids Hymnal: Family Hymn Sing

Keith & Kristyn Getty's album is one place to look for hymns to include. Start with a hymn your child already recognizes, if there is one, and listen together before choosing the rest.

Different recordings of the same hymn can use different verses and arrangements. Pick the recording you actually want in the collection rather than relying on the title alone.

Sing the Bible, Vol. 1

Slugs & Bugs' Sing the Bible, Vol. 1 is another option to explore for scripture songs.

Try a few tracks together. You do not have to add the entire album, and the songs your child wants to hear again may be different from the ones you expected.

Hidden in My Heart

Scripture Lullabies' Hidden in My Heart (A Lullaby Journey Through Scripture) is a place to look when choosing music for a quieter part of the day.

Listen at the volume and on the speaker or headphones you plan to use. You can make a small selection for that setting without making every song in the child's collection quiet music.

Sing: Creation Songs

Ellie Holcomb's Sing: Creation Songs gives you another album to sample while building the collection.

Ask your child which songs they would like to hear again. A worship collection can include both familiar songs and new ones, with the parent choosing what gets added.

Make the collection your own

You might choose one album, a handful of tracks across these four, or different music entirely. There is no need to fill the player in one sitting.

In Songkrate, you can choose individual songs from Apple Music and add them to a child's profile. The child then chooses what to play from that approved collection. Other child profiles can have different selections.

This is a suggested list to explore, not a preloaded Songkrate collection or an endorsement by the artists. The links point to the US Apple Music catalog; availability can vary by region and over time. Search your local catalog before planning a collection around an album.

Set up the device as well

Songkrate controls the collection available inside its player. Restrictions on other apps, websites, and purchases are separate. Our Screen Time guide covers setting up an iPhone or iPad alongside the app.

The listening device needs access to Apple Music. Songkrate is available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV; it does not replace the Apple Music subscription.

See a short demo. Songkrate includes a 14-day account trial, then costs $4.99/month or $39.99/year. Apple Music is required and sold separately. Subscribing before the trial ends starts the paid subscription immediately.

Try it with your own kids

Songkrate turns the Apple Music you already pay for into a player that only has the songs you approved. Free trial, then $4.99/month.
